Mee Vasantrao to release in theatres on April 1
The film is a biopic of Hindustani classical vocalist Vasantrao Deshpande

Mee Vasantrao, the first Marathi film by Jio Studios, will release in theatres on April 1.
The film is based on the life of Hindustani classical vocalist Vasantrao Deshpande. A musical prodigy, Vasantrao had acted as Lord Krishna at the age of nine in the 1919 silent film Kaliya Mardan, directed by Dadasaheb Phalke.
The actor-singer went on to appear in other films, besides charting a distinguished musical career.
Mee Vasantrao was scheduled to release in 2020 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was screened at the Cannes Film Market in 2021 and also played at IFFI.
The film is directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari and stars Rahul Deshpande as Vasantrao.
