Some of the best Korean dramas are adapted from webcomics, otherwise known as manhwa. Be it the super-hit Netflix series, The Kingdom, which is based on The Kingdom of the Gods (written by Kim Eun-hee and by drawn Yang Kyung-il), or Itaewon Class (created by Gwang Jin), these K-dramas were first successful webcomics. However, there is no official English translation that is available to these titles.

Webcomics are a huge part of Korean pop culture and the global popularity of the shows inspired by them has given the manhwa creators a push to translate their work into English.

Here is a list of K-Dramas whose manhwa version can be found on Webtoon with official English translations.

Cheese in the Trap

Cheese in the Trap is one of the most popular K-Dramas that new fans must watch. The manhwa is penned by Soonkki Hong Seol and is centred on her relationship with Yoo Jung.

The female lead (Kim Go Eun) learns more about her boyfriend's (Park Hae Jin) dark side after dating him in college. She is aware of his negative influence in her life, and yet she chooses to give him another chance.

The show addresses the unreal beauty standards set in society through the character of Lim Ju Kyung, who is introduced as a bespectacled girl with freckles. She is bullied by her classmates and is used as a "bang shuttle" (someone who runs errands). After discovering make-up, Ju Kyung uses it to suit herself up in a new school. With makeup, she discovers that people react to her differently, and therein begins her journey of self-realisation.

Similar to zombies, a bite or attack by these monsters turns individuals into demons. Cha Hyun Su (Song Kang) is a high school student who is also a recluse. He is infected, but his transition into a monster is different from the others. He has the answer for everyone's survival, and the show captures his journey.
