The trailer of Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming caper comedy Govinda Naam Mera was released on Sunday. The film, directed by Shashank Khaitan (DhadakHumpty Sharma Ki Dulhania), also stars Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar. It is slated to release on Disney+ Hotstar on December 16.

The trailer shows Vicky as Govinda, a choreographer. He is seen lying on his bed as a yellow saree-clad Kiara Advani seduces him. This turns out to be a dream and Vicky is woken up by a kick from his controlling wife Gauri, played by Bhumi Pednekar. Gauri considers Govinda as a good for nothing. She even introduces him to her boyfriend. Frustrated, Govinda asks for a divorce but Gauri says it will cost him Rs 2 crore. We also see that Kiara is actually Govinda’s girlfriend Suku and is also a choreographer like him. Vexed with his wife’s constant nagging, Govinda points a gun at her. We hear a gunshot but don’t really know who has died. After the murder, the trailer shows the mad chase between cops and Govinda, who is trying to hide the body with Suku’s help.

On Friday, the film’s team shared some character posters featuring the film’s stars. As per the film's synopsis, it is “the story of Govinda Waghmare, who is a small-time junior background dancer. Life is not going great for this boy next door as he owns a huge amount of money in debt and his house is at stake. To make matters worse, his wife Gauri (Bhumi) is having an affair and also physically abuses him. The only silver lining in Govinda's life is his girlfriend Suku (Kiara Advani), with whom he loves to dance in the Mumbai rains.”

The film is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
