An Action Hero trailer out: Ayushmann Khurrana fights 'boycotts' and Jaideep Ahlawat

The trailer for Anirudh Iyer's An Action Hero is out. A satirical action thriller, the film stars Ayushmann Khurrana as an exiled Bollywood star who's hunted down and attacked by a vengeful Municipal Councillor (Jaideep Ahlawat).

While shooting in a Haryana village, Maanav (Ayushmann) runs over a young boy named Vicky. The victim's brother, Bhoora (Jaideep), swears revenge. He tracks Maanav down in London, breaking into his home and teaching him a lesson in celebrity social responsibility. "What you call income is people's love," he says as they fight fiercely inside a kitchen. We also see Maanav escaping in a car and jumping through rooftops.

Elsewhere, a 'boycott' is announced on Maanav's films, and Malaika Arora Khan makes a comeback in a dance sequence.

This is the first full-tilt action outing for Ayushmann, known mostly for progressive-minded social comedies. Jaideep, however, is on familiar ground, having played antagonists in films like Commando, Khaali Peeli and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar.

Talking about An Action Hero, Ayushmann said at a trailer preview in Mumbai, "It is a genre breaker for me. It is different from my staple genre of social-comedy and there is no message in it. There is pure thrill. It is a roller coaster ride.

"This film is about an extraordinary man in an ordinary situation. The emotion of revenge is an ordinary thing but if a superstar happens to be in that ordinary situation, how does he deal with it, is what the story is about,” he added.

An Action Hero releases in theatres on December 2.
