The trailer of the third season of Aashram, starring Bobby Deol, was released on Friday. The series, created by Prakash Jha, launched in August 2020 and gave Bobby's career a new lease. The new season of the series will stream on MX Player from June 3.

In the trailer, the actor is back as the scheming, self-styled godman, Baba Nirala. He claims to be God as we see him wielding power over followers and politicians alike. Esha Gupta is a new addition to the series playing the role of a seductress. We also catch a glimpse of Chandan Roy Sanyal, who plays Baba Nirala's aide, extorting money from politicians to expand the godman's influence.

The show attracted controversy last year. During the shoot in Bhopal, the filmmaker Prakash Jha was smeared with ink by Bajrang Dal activists. They objected to the name of the show, alleging an ‘assault’ on Hinduism. The team was filming in Bhopal’s old jail premises in October, along with Bobby Deol. In a video of the incident that emerged on social media, Bajrang Dal activists could be seen vandalising the set and assaulting a crew member.

Bobby Deol was recently seen in ZEE5's Love Hostel with Vikrant Massey and Sanya Malhotra. He will also be seen in Abbas-Mastan's Penthouse, Anil Sharma's Apne 2 and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal
