Prithviraj trailer: Akshay Kumar is battle-ready in this historical drama

The trailer of Akshay Kumar’s period drama Prithviraj was released on Monday. The film, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, is slated to release on June 3.

The trailer shows Akshay as Prithviraj Chauhan being ascended to the throne of Delhi. We see him horse-riding on the battlefield, wielding swords and slicing enemies. The actor romances former Miss World Manushi Chillar, in her debut role, who plays Prithviraj’s love-interest Sanyogita. The film’s main conflict comes as Sultan Muhammad Ghori (Manav Vij) of Ghurid dynasty invades the country and comes face to face with Prithviraj.

The movie, produced by Yash Raj Films, also stars Sanjay Dutt as Prithviraj’s uncle Kaka Kanha, and Sonu Sood as the ruler’s poet-friend Chand Bardai. It also features Sakshi Tanwar and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.

Prithviraj is based on Prithviraj Raso, a Braj Bhasha poem about the life of the king. The film will also be released in Tamil and Telugu.
