Rajkummar Rao essays a troubled homicide cop in Hit: The First Case. The film, a remake of the 2020 Telugu thriller, is set to release next month. The makers on Tuesday dropped a glimpse of Rajkummar as Vikram, the film's edgy, anguished protagonist.

The 50-second teaser opens on a snowy landscape, as Vikram helplessly witnesses the burning of someone he loves. Years later, he is a cop in the 'Homicide Investigation Department'. "Your current job scenario is triggering your past memories," he is told. We see Vikram having panic attacks and visions, often collapsing and lashing out on the job. Yet, despite the clear psychological torment, he pushes on with his case. The teaser ends with Vikram, heavily drenched, pulling a gun on someone off screen.

Released in 2020, the original Telugu film starred Vishwak Sen as a homicide cop with PTSD. The plot centred on his search for a missing girl.

The Hindi version of Hit: The First Case also stars Sanya Malhotra. The film is directed by Sailesh Kolanu (who also helmed the original) and produced by T-Series and Dil Raju Productions.
