"If you get married to him, won't it look like a thief got the Padma Shri?" The 'him' in question is Munnes Yadav, played by Abhishek Banerjee, an ill-lucked bachelor whom no girl will wed. He's the star of The Great Weddings of Munnes, a new comedy series created by Raaj Shandilyaa and set to stream on Voot from August 4.

The 10-episode series is premised on Munnes’ innocent pursuit to find his happily ever after. He falls in love with the stunning ‘sarv gunn sampurn’ Mahi and cannot believe his luck when she makes the first move. Just when the show starts resembling a mushy romantic classic and everything seems to be in place, a pandit’s prophecy adds a whole new horror twist to this love story.

Talking about the series, Abhishek Banerjee shared, “While OTT offers an excellent platform to experiment, a show like this and a character so unique are truly rare.  I was eager to do a comedy and remember laughing uncontrollably during the script narration and instantly knew I was going to be a part of this show. The simple slice-of-life premise, coupled with raw humour makes The Great Weddings of Munnes an entertaining watch."
