Netflix India has dropped the trailer of The Fame Game. The series, a film-world drama, marks the digital debut of Madhuri Dixit. It is set to premiere on February 25 on the streamer.

Anamika Anand (Madhuri) has a perfect life: husband, kids, fans. One day, unexplained, Anamika disappears. As a cop (Rajshri Deshpande) threads together her life, several secrets come to the fore. There's Anamika's less-than-trusty husband (Sanjay Kapoor); her bereaved co-star (Manav Kaul); her distant but sensible mother (Suhasini Mulay). Between oblique reflections on the pitfalls of fame ("I've performed for others..."), we see snatches of Anamika running, struggling, and taking a spill. A literal fall, amid many symbolic ones.

The disappearance of a famous movie star was explored, in a humourous key, in AK vs AK. The mood in The Fame Game is grim and repentant. Co-directed by Bejoy Nambiar and Karishma Kohli, the series plays on the Madhuri Dixit mythos, including scenes of lavish dance numbers that recall her best. And there's another clever callback: Sanjay was one of Madhuri's oldest co-stars, having starred with her in Raja (1995) and Mohabbat (1997).

Talking about the series, Monika Shergill, VP-Content, Netflix India, said, “We are excited to announce The Fame Game, a family mystery drama that tests the bonds of family against the glamour and uncertainty of stardom. Bollywood’s eternal superstar, Madhuri Dixit Nene adds brilliance to the dynamic role of Anamika Anand in The Fame Game. With partners like Dharmatic Entertainment and creators like Sri Rao, Bejoy Nambiar, and Karishma Kohli at the helm, The Fame Game will take viewers on a simmering journey of forbidden love, lies, deceit, and betrayal in their twisted world where fame exacts its price.”

Producer Karan Johar of Dharmatic Entertainment said, "The Fame Game has drama, emotions, thrills, secrets and everything audiences would be entertained with. It’s a sophisticated, complex family drama that shows you how fame, despite being so covetable, can turn your life upside down. (Showrunner) Sri Rao, Bejoy Nambiar, and Karishma Kohli beautifully capture the complexities and hidden realities of a Bollywood superstar while highlighting relatable elements of family and trust. Plus, it has the finest talents in the industry like the gorgeous Madhuri Dixit Nene, Manav Kaul, Sanjay Kapoor, as well as some young stars like Lakshvir Saran and Muskkaan Jaferi. We're pleased to house this special series at Netflix India and hope global audiences will be thoroughly engaged.”
