Dahaad trailer: Fierce cop Sonakshi Sinha hunts for misogynistic serial killer Vijay Varma

The trailer of Sonakshi Sinha’s OTT debut series Dahaad was unveiled today. Created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, the eight-part series is directed by Reema and Ruchika Oberoi. The show also stars Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah and Sohum Shah in pivotal roles.

Sonakshi is Anjali Bhaati, a police officer in the northern badlands. In the trailer, the actors’ accents suggest that the series is based in or around Haryana. 27 girls go missing under similar circumstances. The girls are found to have died by suicide after consuming poison. Anjali suspects a serial killer is on the prowl. Enter Vijay Varma (Darlings, Sheas Ananda Hindi teacher, and a married man with a child. Anjali suspects he has lured and then convinced the women to consume poison. All roads lead to him but now Anjali has to prove he is behind the killings. 

Dahaad recently became the first Indian web series to be screened at the Berlin International Film Festival. 

Dahaad, for me, is an extremely special project. It not only marks my streaming debut, but it is also the first-ever Indian series to be presented at the 2023 Berlinale,” said Sonakshi.

Talking about his character, Vijay shared, “Anand is a simple teacher, a family man who spends his weekends teaching underprivileged kids. But there is more to him than meets the eye.”

Dahaad will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video on May 12.
