Jubilee trailer: Movies, magic, murder in the golden age of Bollywood

The trailer of Vikramaditya Motwane’s period-drama series Jubilee was unveiled on Friday. The Prime Video series stars a stellar ensemble cast led by Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aparshakti Khurana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sidhant Gupta, Nandish Sandhu, and Ram Kapoor.

The year is 1947. The Golden Era of Bollywood is in play. Prosenjit plays Srikant Roy, a studio executive whose wife actress Sumitra Devi is having an affair with a rising star Madan Kumar (Nandish Sandhu). He tasks his right-hand man Binod Das (Aparshakti Khurana) to take care of Kumar. The trailer suggests that Das kills Kumar. Roy then proceeds to launch Das as the new Madan Kumar. There are other characters too like a wishful director Jay Khanna (Sidhant Gupta) and a nautch girl Niloufer Qureshi (Wamiqa Gabbi) who dreams of making it big in the business. Ram Kapoor plays loudmouth producer Shamsher Singh Walia in the series

Jubilee is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and created by Soumik Sen along with Vikramaditya. The music for the series is composed by Amit Trivedi. The show will premiere on Prime Video in two parts. Part one (episodes one to five) will start streaming on April 7 and part two (episodes six to 10) will release on April 14.
