Kennedy actor Abhilash Thapliyal on working with Anurag Kashyap

Actor Abhilash Thapliyal, famous for playing the role of Shwetketu (SK) in TVF Aspirants, is also part of Anurag Kashyap’s Kennedy. The film, which was recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival, features Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone in lead roles.

Abhilash, recently took to Instagram to pen a note thanking Anurag and spoke about how a call from him changed his life.

“For me, Anurag Kashyap is that rare breed of filmmaker who understands every aspect of the craft of film-making. Be it editing, be it writing, be it direction or be it acting. That is something that sets him apart from all the other filmmakers,” he wrote.

Talking about the director’s filmography and how much he likes Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), the actor added, “Looking at his filmography from Dev DGangs of WasseypurBlack Friday to Manmarziyan, the kind of genres he has explored, the kind of films he has made. It's just phenomenal.  My personal favourite would be Gangs of Wasseypur, I call it the Godfather of the Indian film industry, so raw, so nuanced, so layered and at times so funny. If you talk to the ADs who worked on the film and are now big directors, they all have such incredible things to say. I have seen the making of Gangs of Wasseypur multiple times. That’s how big a fan I am of the film.”

“I am lucky to be working with him,” he concluded.

Kennedy received a 7-minute standing ovation after it was screened at Cannes.
