Farhan and Zoya wish Javed Akhtar on his 78th birthday

It’s Javed Akhtar’s birthday today. The lyricist-screenwriter turned 78. His son, actor-singer Farhan Akhtar, and daughter, director Zoya Akhtar, took to Instagram to share throwback black-and-white photos of Javed. Actors Hrithik Roshan, Shibani Dandekar, and Chunky Panday also reacted to Farhan's birthday post for the screenwriter.

Farhan shared a photo of his father sporting a bandgala and smiling while posing for the camera. “Happy birthday pa. You know what you mean to me and to every person whose life, thinking, and work you have influenced for the better. Love you,” he captioned the post.

His sister Zoya, and wife Shibani dropped heart emojis in the comments section. Farhan’s close friend Hrithik also posted a heart emoji. Actors Chunky Panday commented, “Happy birthday Javed Saab (red heart and hug emojis)" and Mir Sarwar wrote, “Happy birthday Ustaad-e-mohtaram.”

Zoya took to Instagram and shared an old monochrome picture of her father from 1964 and wrote, “Happy birthday pa (red heart emoji).” Hrithik also commented on this photo and wrote, “Happy birthday Javed uncle” and Amitabh Bachchan's daughter Shweta Bachchan wrote, “Happy birthday Javed uncle. What a gorgeous picture.”

Javed recently saw the release of a new book Jadunama, a coffee table book, compiled by Arvind Mandloi and unveiled by Gulzar. The book derives its title from the screenwriter's nickname Jadu. It is a compilation of extracts from his famous public speeches, and quotes.
