Akshay Kumar to face off a crazy fan in Selfiee? See first look with Emraan Hashmi

Akshay Kumar is all set to share screen space for the first time with Emraan Hashmi in Selfiee. The makers, Dharma Productions, shared the film’s first look on Sunday and also announced its release date. It is scheduled to hit the theatres on February 24.

Directed by Raj Mehta, known for making comedy dramas like JugJugg Jeeyo and Good NewwzSelfiee also stars Nushrratt Bharuccha. The film is a remake of the 2019 Malayalam comedy film Driving Licence which starred Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Selfiee’s motion poster, released today, shows Akshay’s poster on a billboard. We then see a bunch of policemen trying to restrain a fan, as Akshay and Emraan face each other. The film revolves around a superstar and a fan who went awry.

“Fans make a star. Fans can also break a star! Find out what happens when a fan turns against his Idol. Watch Selfiee in cinemas on Feb 24th,” Akshay captioned the post.

Akshay recently had an interesting cameo in Ayushmann Khurrana’s An Action Hero in which Ayushmann’s character, an actor, is on the run after he accidentally kills a local politician’s brother and the politician (Jaideep Ahlawat) comes chasing after him.

The original Malayalam movie was directed by Lal Jr from a script by Sachy. It revolved around a superstar (Prithviraj Sukumaran) famous for his driving skills who loses his licence. However, the issue spins out of control after he locks horns with a motor inspector (Suraj Venjaramoodu), who happens to be a fan of the actor.

The film will also feature a recreation of Akshay and Saif Ali Khan’s 1994 song ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’, which was from the film of the same name. In August last year, Emraan had taken to his social media handles to announce the song, “28 years after the original .. The OG khiladi with the new Anari. This stare down led to a dance off. And what a dance off it was. (Haven’t stopped icing my feet ever since) #selfiee.”

Akshay had a dismal 2022. His films: Bachchhan PaandeyRaksha BandhanRam Setu and Samrat Prithviraj all flopped at the box office. However, his OTT release Cuttputlli was the most streamed film of last year.
