Pathaan trailer: A patriotic Shah Rukh Khan fights John Abraham’s ‘Outfit X’

The much-anticipated trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan is out. Apart from Shah Rukh, the film also features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.

The trailer opens up with YRF announcing its “Spy universe”. John is seen firing a heavily CGI-ed missile at a car. Dimple Kapadia’s voiceover informs us that he belongs to a private terror group called ‘Outfit X’ which doesn’t work for any purpose but only on contract (employee?). Dimple plays what seems like the head of India’s spy agency. Ashutosh Rana is also seen. Outfit X is planning an attack on India and it’s time to “get Pathaan.”

Shah Rukh is introduced amid guns blazing and kicks flying. He breaks some bones, rattles some AK47s and even flies a helicopter. “Party Pathaan ke ghar pe rakhoge toh Pathaan toh aaega aur pataakhe bhi laega” (If you keep a party at Pathaan’s house, he will welcome you with firecrackers). Deepika is also seen as probably a spy from another country. “I am also a soldier like you, Pathaan.” The patriotism is high in this one and Shah Rukh even says, “A soldier never asks what a country did for him but he asks what he can do for the country.” The trailer concludes with SRK saying, “Jai Hind.” Oh, and Shah Rukh and John fly a jetpack too.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan is slated to release on January 25. The track Besharam Rang from the film courted controversy after BJP leaders and various groups raised objections to the outfits donned by Deepika Padukone, claiming they hurt religious sentiments. Recently, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked the makers to incorporate changes in the film, including its songs.
