M3GAN makers have plans to develop sequel for sci-fi horror

Even as the American science fiction horror film M3GAN is gearing up for release this week, filmmaker James Wan, who has co-wrote and co-produced the film is already in idea to develop the sequel for the film.

M3GAN is about a roboticist who comes up with a lifelike, AI doll M3GAN , which can serve as a child's companion while also being an ally to parents. When M3GAN is enlisted as Cady's guidance, things become haywire when the doll becomes over protective and takes extreme measures on anyone who tries to cause harm to the girl.

Speaking to Collider, James said, “What I will say to that is, whether it's The Conjuring Universe, or Saw, or Malignant, or M3GAN here, we like to think of a bigger world. For me, it's about creating the world, and knowing who the characters are, where the story could potentially go, and then building this bigger world, and then going into that and going, Okay, I'm telling this particular story, but I know other stuff that's going on.”

The filmmaker also added that if they are “fortunate enough” to have sequels, they have an “idea” on how to take it forward.

M3GAN is helmed by Gerard Johnstone and stars Allison Williams as the robotiicist Gemma, Violet McGraw as Cady, and Amie Donald in the titular role.
