Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan has beaten Aamir Khan’s 2016 film Dangal at the box office to become the highest-grossing film of all time domestically.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, Pathaan is expected to have collected Rs 22 to 24 crore on Saturday, taking total collections in Hindi to Rs 384 crore approximately, which makes the all-India total of Pathaan stand at Rs 398 crore. Dangal had made Rs 387 crore in India.

However, when it comes to the worldwide collection, Dangal is still way ahead of the spy-thriller at Rs 2000 crore, owing to its massive run at the Chinese box office in 2017. Dangal made about Rs 1200 crore in China where it was released in Mandarin.

Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted the fresh figures, as did the film's producers, Yash Raj Films. A fresh poster with the latest collection spelt that worldwide, Pathaan has collected $88.92 million (approximately ₹730 crore).

Pathaan is expected to break KGF 2’s record in the next five days and if it keeps up the momentum, to challenge Baahubali 2’s record of Rs 511 crore in Hindi. If the film achieves this feat, it will become the highest-grossing film in Hindi.

Pathaan marks the return of Shah Rukh Khan to the big screen after four years. The film has given a new lease of life to the Hindi film industry, which had been going through a dry phase lately.
