We had earlier reported about director Vipul Amrutlal Shah producing The Kerala Story, which narrates the story of missing girls from Kerala in the last few years. On Monday, Siddhi Idnani took to Twitter to announce the film's release date. The film is all set to hit theatres worldwide on May 5.
The film, written and directed by Sudipto Sen, intends to tell a heartbreaking tale of the forced religious conversion of women. The makers released its teaser on Thursday. According to the makers, the film tells the story of a human tragedy as it unearths the events behind 32,000 women going missing in Kerala.
The teaser of The Kerala Story was released in November last year. It featured actress Adah Sharma in her character of a converted Muslim woman Fatima Ba. The character narrates her ordeal of how she once wanted to serve humanity by becoming a nurse but was abducted from her home and manipulated by religious vanguards and turned into an ISIS terrorist. She eventually lands in Afghanistan jail.
The film is also backed by Ashin A Shah of Sunshine Pictures.
