Director Sudhir Mishra took to Twitter on Thursday to express his desire to make a limited series on the East India Company’s take-over of the country. He further said that every time he pitches an idea it gets rejected, “wonder why?” he asked.

“I want to make a limited series on the East India Company takeover . A series that takes the Brits and their cronies apart. Every time I pitch it it’s rejected. I wonder why?” he tweeted. Sudhir is helming the series Tanaav, set in Kashmir in 2017. It is an adaptation of the Israeli series Fauda and tells the story of a special covert ops unit made to fight militancy in the state.

Manav Vij, Arbaaz Khan, Sumit Kaul, Rajat Kapoor and Shashank Arora will appear in pivotal roles in the show. When it comes to films, Sudhir will be directing Afwaah, in which he will be reuniting with his Serious Men actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film will also feature Bhumi Pednekar.
