Brahmastra new promo out; Ranbir Kapoor commands fire, more glimpses of Vanar Astra

Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra releases in theatres on September 9. With just six days to go, the makers have dropped a promo featuring new glimpses into the Astraverse.

The promo shows Mouni Roy as antagonist and her evil cult vying for the Brahmastra, an all-powerful divine weapon that can destroy the world. It's been split up in three parts, hidden in different locations that should never be connected. Amitabh Bachchan, playing the guru of a secret society protecting the astras, tells this to Ranbir Kapoor's Shiva, who promises to complete his mission. Gifted with the ability to control fire, Shiva fights off enemies with a flaming whip. We also see a tree felled by magical powers and an assassin attacking Alia Bhatt's Isha.

Towards the end, we catch sight of other superheroes in the film, including 'Vanar Astra' (reportedly played by Shah Rukh Khan) and Nandiastra (played by Nagarjuna).

Brahmastra is written and directed by Ayan Mukerji with dialogue by Hussain Dalal. The film unfolds in the modern world with mythic references. The characters wield 'astras', or weapons, that will form the crux of the franchise.

"There are about 10 (astras) in the first film," Ayan had told Cinema Express in an interview. "Few of them don’t even come up by name. As we open Part Two, we will start building on the universe."
