'Micchami Dukkadam': Aamir Khan Productions seeks forgiveness on Jain festival

Aamir Khan Productions posted a video on Thursday on occasion of the Jain festival of Samvatsari. The half-a-minute clip opens with the phrase 'Micchami Dukkadam', a Prakrit language greeting meaning, "may all my bad deeds be forgiven."

The clip continues with a narration (not by Aamir) seeking forgiveness for 'ever hurting your feelings'.

Since Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir's recent release, was caught in a boycott row, and subsequently tanked at the box-office, many have read this as an apology of sorts from the actor. Aamir had, in 2015, expressed concern over growing intolerance in the country, a statement that was deemed hurtful and controversial by some. The statement was dug up in the run up to Laal Singh Chaddha, sparking an online campaign to boycott the film.
