Actor Manav Vij has reacted to the boycott trend that supposedly hobbled Laal Singh Chaddha, saying people who loved the film on Netflix should send Rs 500 to Aamir Khan Productions.

The film, a remake of Forrest Gump, opened to underwhelming collections in August. In this Hindi adaptation, Manav portrays the role of Mohammad Bhai, a Pakistani military commander who befriends Laal (Aamir) and starts a successful innerwear brand with him.

Talking about the calls for boycott during Laal Singh Chaddha's release, Manav told Mid-Day in an interview, "It (the boycott trend) confuses you, hurts you. Many people also apologised to me on Twitter, saying they didn’t watch Laal Singh Chaddha in theatres following the boycott trend. But they loved it when they watched it on Netflix. I said, ‘If you were so apologetic, you should have transferred Rs 500 to Aamir Khan Productions’ account. The producers are at a loss because of your stupidity’.”

Manav has appeared in films like Udta Punjab, Andhadhun, Laal Kaptaan and Samrat Prithviraj

Recently, Aamir Khan announced at a Delhi event that he's taking a break from acting to be with his family. Aamir said he was meant to star in a film called Champions after Laal Singh Chaddha. However, he will only be producing the film now.

"I feel I have been working for 35 years and I have single-mindedly been focused on my work," Aamir was quoted as saying. "I feel that it’s not fair to people who are close to me. This is the time I feel I have to take some time off to be with them, and actually experience life in a different way. I am looking forward to the next year, year-and-a-half in which I am not working as an actor."
