Veteran Marathi and Hindi film actor Sunil Shende passed away in Mumbai on Friday. He was 75.
Sunil Shende is remembered for various bit parts and supporting roles over the decades. He played the deputy commissioner of police in the Aamir Khan-starrer Sarfarosh (1999), an inept politician in Rohit Shetty’s Zameen, and a local cop in Vaastav: The Reality.
Before that, he appeared in the hit television shows Circus and Shanti. One of his earliest roles was in Richard Attenborough's Gandhi (1982).
Sunil Shende's last rites were performed in Mumbai on Monday afternoon. He is survived by his wife Jyoti and his two sons Omkar and Rishikesh.
Mourning Sunil Shende's demise, actor Rajesh Tailang tweeted, "Great actor and a great human being ...Shri Sunil Shende is no more.I was fortunate enough to get a chance to work with him in the serial Shanti, I played his son. Babuji saadar shraddhanjali."
The Cine & TV Artistes' Association tweeted, "#CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Sunil Shende (Non - Member)."
