Amid Mahesh Babu's comments that "Bollywood cannot afford him," an old video of Shah Rukh Khan from the 2008 Berlin Film Festival is doing the rounds on social media. In the video, the superstar can be seen showing loyalty toward Indian cinema and refusing to work in Hollywood.

Mahesh Babu had recently said at a press conference that he has never thought of leaving "his industry and going to another" because of the stardom he has. “I don’t know if I would sound arrogant. I did get a lot of offers from Hindi. But, the simple thing is I don’t think they can afford me. I can’t waste my time. The kind of respect I get here. The kind of stardom I get here. I never really thought of leaving my industry and going to another. I always thought when you do films here it will become bigger. My belief is becoming true now. I can’t be happier," he said.

Since then, several industry personalities such as Ram Gopal Varma, Boney Kapoor, and Kangana Ranaut have commented on this.

After this, the old video of Shah Rukh became viral on social media, with fans claiming that this is how actors should respond when being put in a situation like it. When asked if he would like to work in Hollywood, the superstar said, "My English is not good. If they give me a role of a dumb person who doesn’t speak, maybe. I am not trying to be modest but I am 42 years old, I am little brown, and I don’t have any special USP as an actor. I don’t know Kung fu, I don’t dance the Latin salsa, I am not tall enough.I have seen recent films of Europe, films of what you call ‘the dream factory’. I think there is no space for me. I don’t think I am that talented. So I would like to continue doing work in India, and hopefully take Indian cinema to the world.”

On the work front, Shah Rukh will be next seen in Yash Raj Films' Pathaan. He is also working with Rajkumar Hirani on Dunki. An untitled project with Atlee is also on the cards. Telugu star Mahesh Babu had a recent release, Sarkaru Vaari Paata.
