Akshay Kumar on Raksha Bandhan-Laal Singh Chaddha clash: It’s about two good movies coming together

At the trailer launch event for Aanand L Rai’s directorial Raksha Bandhan recently, Akshay Kumar commented on the date-clash between his film and Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha. Both films are scheduled to release on August 11.

"It's not a clash,” said Akshay. “It is about two good movies coming together. And it's a big day. People will be having holidays. It's the time of Raksha Bandhan. Due to Covid-19, many films did not release and some are still waiting to get a release date. So, it's natural that in one week two films are coming together. I hope both films have a good run.”

The film’s trailer portrayed Akshay as a loving and caring brother, who is trying his best for his sisters to get married. He himself denies his childhood love, played by Bhumi to settle down.

During the trailer launch in Delhi, director Aanand said, “This movie is really important to me and I enjoyed the process of making this film. The entire atmosphere was such that I never realised when we completed the movie. Akshay considered me as his elder brother and became part of my project, this really makes me feel emotional."

Kanika Dhillon, who has written the film along with husband Himanshu Sharma, added, “This is the story about the relationship of siblings and it connects to our grassroots.”

Raksha Bandhan is produced by Colour Yellow Productions, Zee Studios and Alka Hiranandani, in association with Cape Of Good Films.
