Asha Bhosle pays tribute to late sister Lata Mangeshkar, dedicates 'Sujata' song

Singer Asha Bhosle has paid tribute to her late sister, the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar who passed away yesterday at the age of 92 due to multiple organ failures.

Asha posted a throwback picture of herself with Lata Mangeshkar from when they were kids. "Bachpan ke din bhi kya din the' (How wonderful were the days of our childhood)," captioned the singer. The caption was a reference to one of Asha's melodys Bachpan Ke Din from Bimal Roy's 1959 film Sujata. Asha had sung the song aong with Geeta Dutt. The song, composed by Sachin Dev Burman, has lyrics written by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

Celebrities including AR Rahman and Hrithik Roshan have reacted to the throwback post.

Lata Mangeshkar was cremated at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Sunday evening. Several celebrities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Anuradha Podwal, Shankar Mahadevan, Vidya Balan attended the last rites of the legendary singer.

Meanwhile, to mourn the demise, the government of Maharashtra has declared today as a public holiday in the state. The government of West Bengal has declared half-day today as a public holiday.
