More than half of Scam 2003 shoot over, says producer

We had earlier reported about Hansal Mehta helming a new series titled Scam 2003: The Telgi Story. The series chronicles the life of Abdul Karim Telgi, a fruit-seller born in Khanapur in Karnataka, and his journey to becoming the mastermind behind the stamp paper scam, one of the most ingenious scams in India. Telgi built an empire by counterfeiting stamp papers. The scam, spread across multiple states, shook the entire country.

Sameer Nair, the producer of the series, recently shared an update on the progress in shoot. Nair said, "We are about 60 per cent into shoot. The show is primarily being shot in Mumbai, Pune, Karjat and other locations."

Talking about the learnings from the first season, Scam 1992The Harshad Mehta Story, the producer said, "The learnings were about the importance of focusing on attention to detail and factual accuracy in bringing to life a human story of this scale."

Scam 2003 is adapted from the Hindi book ‘Reporter ki Diary’, authored by journalist Sanjay Singh, who broke the scam back in the time. The series will be helmed by Hansal and Tushar Hiranandani. Gagan Dev Riar, a veteran theatre artist, has been roped in to play the role of Abdul Karim Telgi.
