Calls to boycott Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan’s upcoming film Vikram Vedha gained traction on Twitter on Sunday. #BoycottVikramVedha started trending after Hrithik gave a positive review of the Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha.

“Just watched LAAL SINGH CHADDA. I felt the HEART of this movie. Pluses and minuses aside, this movie is just magnificent. Don’t miss this gem guys ! Go ! Go now . Watch it. It’s beautiful. Just beautiful,” Hrithik tweeted on Saturday.

Netizens, who have been boycotting Laal Singh Chaddha over Aamir’s 2015 comments, where he talks about then wife Kiran Rao thinking about leaving the country, and his ‘hinduphobic’ scenes in PK, were vexed with Hrithik’s appreciation of the film.

“Teri movie ka bhi yahi haal hoga (Your film will have the same fate),” tweeted a user. “Vikram Vedha aarai hai na… Udta teer lelia tune Hrithik… Feel sorry for you (Vikram Vedha is coming right… You took a flying arrow…),” said another.

Protests to ban the screening of Laal Singh Chaddha also took place in Punjab’s Jalandhar and Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi recently. The film opened to a dismal box office of about Rs 10 crore on the first day, lowest for an Aamir Khan film in 13 years.

Vikram Vedha is a remake of the 2017 Tamil film of the same name. The original starred Vijay Sethupathi and R Madhavan. Both films are helmed by director-duo Pushkar and Gayatri. Apart from this, Hrithik also has Fighter with Deepika Padukone in the pipeline.
