Aamir Khan’s upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha has been facing the wrath of ‘boycott’ hashtags on Twitter every day. Recently, as reported by ANI, the actor said he “regrets” hurting anyone and that he respects people’s sentiments if they don’t want to watch the film.

"If I have hurt anyone by any means, I regret it. I don't want to hurt anyone. If someone doesn't want to watch the film, I'd respect their sentiment,” said Aamir.

Calls to boycott the film have been trending on Twitter after an interview of Aamir from 2015 resurfaced on social media. In the interview, Aamir can be seen saying his then-wife Kiran Rao is suggesting shifting countries because of growing intolerance in India. Aamir’s scenes in PK are also being reshared on Twitter, with users reiterating that he “doesn’t respect Hindu gods.”

Laal Singh Chaddha, an official remake of the 1994 Tom Hanks film Forrest Gump, is directed by Advait Chandan and written by Atul Kulkarni. It also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in key roles. The film is scheduled to release on August 11.
