Pop singer Taz, known for It's Magic, Nachenge Saari Raat and Gallan Goriyan, passes away

Indian-origin pop singer Taz (Tarsame Singh Saini) passed away on Saturday in London. He was 54. The cause of his death was liver failure.

Taz, who led Stereo Nation in the 90s, was known for his Asian indie-pop sound across the world. He'd delivered hits like 'Hit The Deck', 'Nachenge Saari Raat', 'Daroo Vich Pyar' and 'Pyar Ho Gaya'. He'd sung for Bollywood films like Tum Bin, Koi Mil Gaya (It's Magic), Race and others.

More recently, he had voiced 'Gallan Goriyan' with Dhvani Bhanushali in Batla House (2019).

Bollywood composer Amaal Mallik shared his condolences on Twitter, writing "RIP you legend #TazStereoNation."

British filmmaker Gurinder Chadha shared a picture with Taz and wrote on her Twitter, "Heartbroken to hear that a pioneer of the British Asian music scene has just left us. You cannot underestimate my excitement on first hearing #HitTheDeck. By #jonnyZee then ??@tazstereonation?? pure Br'Asian pop fusion. for all the joy you gave me Taz. God Bless you @tazstereonation."

Adnan Sami also took to his Twitter to mourn the loss of the singer, he tweeted, "Can't believe it!! Extremely Saddened and Shocked. May he Rest in Peace (sic)."

British-Indian record producer Bally Sagoo shared a throwback picture with Taz on Twitter. He wrote on Twitter, "RIP brother @tazstereonation You will truly be missed"

Singer Jay Sean wrote, "So sad to hear about the passing of this legend. You touched so many lives and continue to as your music lives on. May you rest in peace brother."
