The Bombay High Court on Wednesday refused to stay the release of Shahid Kapoor-starrer Jersey, reports state.

The film, a sports drama, was accused of plagiarism ahead of its release. Its release date was subsequently shifted from April 14 to April 22.

Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film is a remake of his 2019 Telugu film starring Nani. It tells the story of a cricketer making a comeback after years of obscurity. A writer named Rupesh Jaiswal had alleged that aspects of the film, such as the storyline and concept, were plagiarised from a 2007 script written by him.

Jersey also features Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur. The film is produced by Geetha Arts, Dil Raju Production, Sithara Entertainments and Brat Films.
