Gadar 2 brings back director Anil Sharma and the original distributor Zee Studios. Gadar was loosely based on the tragic love story between British Indian Army World War II veteran Boota Singh and a young Muslim woman named Zainab against the backdrop of the Partition.
Though plot details of the sequel are currently unavailable, according to reports, the sequel will continue the love story of Tara Singh (Sunny) and Sakeena (Ameesha Patel). The sequel will also feature Anil Sharma's son, Utkarsh Sharma, who had appeared in Gadar as Tara and Sakeena's child.
Gadar 2 is expected to go on floors soon and will hit theatres in 2022.
Notably, Gadar: Ek Pre Katha competed with Ashutosh Gowarikar's classic Aamir Khan-starrer Lagaan during its release and ended up becoming a top grosser.
