Akshay Kumar to play General Ian Cardozo in Gorkha 

Post Atrangi Re and Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar is all set to join hands with Aanand L Rai once again for the upcoming Gorkha. The film is based on the life of Major General Ian Cardozo, a veteran officer of the Gorkha regiment of the Indian Army (5th Gorkha Rifles). 

Gorkha will be helmed by national award winner Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. Akshay will be essaying the role of the war hero who fought in the wars of 1962, 1965, and most notably in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. 

On the occasion of Dusshera, Akshay made the official announcement about the project. Sharing the first look posters, the actor wrote, “Sometimes you come across stories so inspiring that you just want to make them. Gorkha is based on the life of legendary war hero, Major General Ian Cardozo is one such film. Honoured to essay the role of an icon and present this special film."
 

Producer Aanand L Rai shared in a statement, “We are honoured to bring the story of a legendary war hero, Major General Ian Cardozo whose name goes down in history for his immense courage in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. I am also excited to work with Akshay sir again for the third time.”

The first look poster of the film feature Akshyam Kumar in a military uniform and shouting at the enemy troupes, holding a knife in his hands. 

Apart from this film, Akshay has Ram Setu and Mission Cinderella in various stages of production.
