A24 has released the first official trailer for their upcoming horror film titled The Eternal Daughter. The film stars Tilda Swinton in the lead; she has won a number of accolades including Academy Awards and BAFTA Awards for her performances in various films. The film is directed by Joanna Hogg who is known for a number of critically acclaimed films like Caprice, Souvenir, and Unrelated. The Eternal Daughter follows a daughter and her aged mother who move to an old hotel and get haunted by a mysterious entity that lives in the building.
The film had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival and was well-received by the audience. The themes explored in the film are an extension of the director’s previous work The Souvenir which also revolved around a daughter connecting with her elderly mother.
The film also has cast members Joseph Mydell, Carly, and Alfie Sankey. The mystery drama was initially announced to be in production in January 2021, and details regarding the film were kept under tight wraps. Portions of the film were shot under complete secrecy in Wales during the peak of the COVID pandemic. The film is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on 2 December 2022.
