The first and exclusive first look of Nosferatu, the upcoming film directed by Robert Eggers, was released by Empire.

Starring Willem Dafoe in the lead titular role, Nosferatu will be set in the 1800s and will have elements of Goth, love, and fear. It will follow a young woman in the 19th century Germany who is stalked by a vampire. The film will also feature Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Emma Corrin, among others.

The first look shows Lily's Ellen Hunter looking in a calm yet petrified manner, as the shadow of the monstrous creature cast across her face.

With the shooting of the film wrapped up months ago, Robert said to Empire, "Yeah, it’s a scary film. It’s a horror movie. It’s a Gothic horror movie. And I do think that there hasn’t been an old-school Gothic movie that’s actually scary in a while. And I think that the majority of audiences will find this one to be the case.”

A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
