Aditi Rao Hydari to star in the first UK-India co-production Lioness

Indian-origin British actress Paige Sandhu will also be playing the lead role in the film

Actor Aditi Rao Hydari has been cast in the first UK-India co-production Lioness. Alongside Aditi Rao Hydari, Indian-origin British actress Paige Sandhu will also be playing the lead role. The film is credited as the first official India-UK co-production under a treaty signed in 2008. 

Directed by Kajri Babbar as her maiden feature, the film follows the story of two British women living in the UK a century apart. One story is based on a historical figure, Princess Sophia Duleep Singh. Paige Sandhu will be essaying the role, while Aditi tapped in to portray a fictional character named Mehak, an immigrant woman living in London.

Lioness is produced by Vivek Rangachari, Vaishalli Paatil, Faraz Ahsan and Clare Cahill, with Ajit Pal Singh as executive producer.

Meanwhile, Aditi Rao Hydari was last seen in Vikramaditya Motwane's Prime Video series Jubilee and the second season of the period drama series Taj: Divided by Blood on ZEE5. The actor will next be seen in critically -acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's series debut Heeramandi on Netflix.
