Gran Turismo Trailer: Gamer meets real world, real stakes

Our first look at Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming sports drama Gran Turismo is finally here. The film is an adaptation of Sony’s video game series of the same name, which was originally developed in 1997 for Playstation. The successful video game franchise spawned several titles, with Gran Turismo 7 having been released in 2022.
The film is based on the true life story of Jann Mardenborough, a video game player who used his gaming skills to win real-life racing competitions. Archie Madekwe, who is known for films like Midsommar, Teen Spirit, and Voyagers, will be playing the lead in the film. The cast of the film also includes David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Darren Barnett, Djimon Hounsou, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Daniel Puig, Josha Stradowski, and Thomas Kretschman.
The screenplay for the film has been written by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. With a release date yet to be confirmed, Gran Turismo is expected to have an exclusive theatrical release in August.
