Pedro Almodovar's Strange Way of Life will not open Cannes Film Festival

We had earlier reported that Pedro Almodovar's Strange Way of Life would open Cannes Film Festival. However, the festival chief Thierry Frémaux denied the chance of the film being screened.

In an interview with Variety, a question enquired about the rumours of Pedro Almodovar's short opening at the Festival, the Cannes chief replied, "It's a short film, I believe, so no, not on opening night. It's a rumour, but I like rumours, and they're part of the Cannes mythology.

Earlier, Pedro Almodóvar revealed his plans to release the film at Cannes during his appearance at Dua Lipa's At Your Service podcast. The director described the film as a "queer Western, in the sense that there are two men, and they love each other." The film stars Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke.

Pedro Almodovar is best known for films like Parallel Mothers, Volver, and Pain and Glory. The Spanish filmmaker reportedly made the film in English and produced it under his Madrid-based production company.
