Rege-Jean Page, Morgan Freeman join as executive producers of Muhammad Ali series
The series is based on Jonathan Eig's definitive biography Ali: A Life
A series is being made about boxing icon Muhammad Ali on an American video streaming service, Peacock. The series titled Excellence: 8 Fights will be bankrolled by Rege-Jean Page, Morgan Freeman.
Billed to be an eight-episode series, Excellence: 8 Fights is based on Jonathan Eig's definitive biography Ali: A Life. Penned by Oscar-winning writer Willmott, the official logline of the series read as," Excellence: 8 Fights will chronicle eight distinct and defining moments in the iconic life of Muhammad Ali. Each episode will be framed by one fight from Ali's life, but the essence of the episode, what it's really about, is the internal fight - the drama outside the ring - where we will explore the struggle going on in the heart and mind of one of the most consequential and controversial figures of the 20th century."
Meanwhile, Rege-Jean Page, known for his role in Netflix's Bridgerton in 2020, continued to broaden his acting horizons with the action film The Gray Man and the upcoming film adaptation Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Excellence: 8 Fights marks Page's most significant leap into the production realm to date.
Willmott, Lori McCreary for Revelations Entertainment, and Emily Brown also serve as executive producers.
