Cocaine Bear mints $52 million worldwide

Filmmaker Elizabeth Banks' Cocaine Bear continued to gross well at the box office in its second weekend since release. According to reports, the horror comedy film grossed $14.1 million globally leading the worldwide collection to $52 million. The film is said to have surpassed the records of titles like Violent Night, Good Boys and Beast. 

Written by Jimmy Warden, the film is loosely inspired by the true story of a black bear in northern Georgia that consumed nearly 34 kg of lost cocaine in September 1985.

The film which hit the theatres on February 24, opened to good reviews. It starred Keri Russell, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Christian Convery, Alden Ehrenreich, Brooklynn Prince, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Margo Martindale, and the late Ray Liotta. Cocaine Bear is backed by Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Aditya Sood along with Brian Duffield and Max Handelman under the banner Brownstone Productions.
