Camila Mendes and Jenna Ortega to star in A24's Alba 

The film will be an adaptation of the play The House of Bernarda Alba (La casa de Bernarda Alba) by Spanish dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca

Camila Mendes and Jenna Ortega are set to star in A24's drama film Alba. The film also stars Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick). 

Alba will be directed by Francisca Alegria, whose debut work The Cow Who Sang A Song Into the Future, was critically acclaimed.

Written by Chelsey Lora, Alba will be an adaptation of the play The House of Bernarda Alba (La casa de Bernarda Alba) by Spanish dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca. 

The play is about widow Bernarda Alba and her daughters. After the death of her husband, Bernarda Alba imposes an eight-year mourning period as per family tradition. However, as the daughters don't accept the imposition which causes them to be barred from other relationships, tension stir in the household.  

Alba will be produced by Mendez and LuckyChap Entertainment, a production company owned by Margot Robbie. Camila Mendes will also produce the film. The rest of the cast and information about the film are yet to be revealed. 

Meanwhile, Jenna Ortega gained wide recognition after she portrayed the titular role in Netflix's supernatural horror comedy series Wednesday. Camila Mendes was recently seen in Netflix's teen black comedy film Do Revenge. Her other credits include Dangerous Lies, Palm Springs and Riverdale.
