Cate Blanchett starrer The New Boy trailer is here 

The film premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival

The makers of the Australian drama film, The New Boy released the trailer of the film on Wednesday. Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett plays a significant role in the film along with an ensemble cast comprising Aswan Reid, Deborah Mailman, and  Wayne Blair. Blanchett also serves as a producer under her Dirty Films production company. 

The New Boy is a tale of spirituality and survival that takes place in 1940s Australia. The protagonist, played by Reid, is a courageous young Aboriginal boy who is seized and taken to a secluded monastery. Sister Eileen, portrayed by Blanchett, manages the place.

Written and directed by Warwick Thornton, The New Boy premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on 19 May. The film will open at the Sydney Film Festival and also play in the Official Competition before its theatrical release in Australia on 6 July.

Along with Blanchett, The New Boy is co-produced by Kath Shelper, Andrew Upton, and Lorenzo De Maio. The New Boy also stars Shane Brady, Tyrique Brady, Laiken Woolmington, Kailem Miller, Kyle Miller, Tyzailin Roderick, and Tyler Spencer.
