Jessica Runck and Jennie Urman to develop dramedy Cleo at Peacock

Cleo, a one-hour dramedy written by Jessica Runck, is in development at Peacock from 
Jane the Virgin developer/showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman, Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, TrillTV and CBS Studios. With Jennie Urman serving as the showrunner, Cleo will revolve around Cleopatra- the Queen of Egypt. She is an overqualified young woman who is forced to hide her intelligence behind cosmetics, clothes and men to earn the respect she needs to continue being the Queen. 

Cleo is a dramatic comedy that takes a feminist stance similar to Urman's Jane the Virgin and is set in ancient Egypt to show that not much has changed in the last 2000 years.

Runck most recently worked as a consultant producer on the Andie MacDowell-starring Hallmark film The Way Home. On the other hand, Jane the Virgin on the CW was created by Urman, who also served as its executive producer.
