Willem Dafoe, a four-time Academy Award nominee, is in talks with filmmaker Robert Eggers, for playing a role in the latter's version of the iconic horror classic Nosferatu.

It is to be noted that Robert had earlier collaborated with Willem for The Lighthouse and The Northman, both which opened to positive reception.

Nosferatu is a classic which revolves around a vampire who preys on people and targets the wife of an estate agent, thus bringing a plague to the town. The film is set in the 19th Century of Germany and it is likely that Willem would not be playing the titular character and the upcoming vversion is said to stick to the classic. Instead, actor Bill Skarsgard who acted in horror films like It and Barbarian, will be portraying the vampire, with the prey played by Lily-Rose Depp.

It is to be noted that Willem Dafoe has earlier played a vampire in the 2000 film Shadow of the Vampire. Nosferatu will be backed by Focus Features along with Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Robert Eggers, Chris Columbus, and Eleanor Columbus. No release date has been announced yet.
