The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has been headlining news ever since the announcement of the nominations for the upcoming Academy Awards. From India, RRR's Naatu Naatu has been nominated in the category of Best Original Song, while All That Breathes and The Elephant Whisperers have been nominated in the Best Documentary Feature Film and Best Documentary Short categories respectively.

Meanwhile, actor Ana de Armas has created history as she has become the first Cuban to be nominated for Best actress. She earned a nomination for her role in Blonde, in which she played the iconic Marilyn Monroe. She previously bagged nominations at the SAG and BAFTA awards as well. While Blonde was criticised severely, Ana's performance as the Hollywood icon has been praised by actors and critics alike. While this is her first Academy Award nomination, she previously earned a nomination at the Golden Globes for her performance in Knives Out

Blonde is an American biopic written and directed by Andrew Dominik, based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates. The film is a fictional take on Marilyn Monroe's life: the highs, the lows, and the struggles she endured struggles that eventually led to the star's death. The film also stars Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Xavier Samuel, and Julianne Nicholson.

On the work front, Ana de Armas is currently working on Ghosted and Ballerina. Blonde is available for streaming on Netflix. The Academy Awards will be streamed on ABC on March 12.
