Madonna biopic starring Julia Garner shelved at Universal Studios
Madonna will be going on her 12th world tour covering 40 cities in total
We had earlier reported that Madonna had roped in writer Erin Wilson to pen her biopic. The latest report suggests that the biopic is no longer in development at Universal Pictures. The Queen of pop is currently busy with her music and has decided to give it all of her attention.
While the shelving seems temporary, Madonna will speculatively continue work on the biopic as she has previously shared that someday she will tell her story to the world by herself. The 60-year-old pop star recently announced that she will be going on her 12th world tour, covering 40 cities in total.
Previously, it was reported that Madonna was working with Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody for an upcoming biopic. However, Cody later exited the project as she encountered challenges in working with the singer.
Once the film is back on track, it is expected to be directed by Madonna herself. She has been part of 17 films so far and has directed two films namely Filth and Wisdom (2008) and W.E (2011).
