Tom Cruise’s long-time collaborator and the director of the upcoming Mission Impossible film, Christopher McQuarrie recently appeared on the Light The Fuse podcast. The weekly podcast focuses exclusively on the Mission Impossible franchise. In the podcast, the director revealed details about his next project with the action star.

While McQuarrie did not divulge any information about the title or the story, he revealed that the film will be, “ will be gnarly, adult, and more violent.” The upcoming project is expected to be a standalone film not connected to the Mission Impossible franchise.

While Tom Cruise has been doing a lot of family-friendly action-entertainers like the Mission Impossible, Top Gun, and Jack Reacher franchises, he is also known for appearing in films with adult themes like Eyes Wide Shut, Collateral, Magnolia, and Born on the 4th of July.

Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1, directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starring Tom Cruise in the lead role is currently scheduled to release on 14 July 2023. McQuarrie is also directing the second part of Dead Reckoning, which is slated to release on 28 June 2024.
