Deep Impact gets 4K UHD Release for 25th anniversary

Deep Impact, the 1998 science fiction disaster film directed by Mimi Leder, will mark the 25-year milestone this year. Celebrating the occasion, Paramount Home Media has decided to release the 4K UHD version of the film.

According to Collider, the 4K version with Dolby Vision and HDR-10 will be made available for purchase on May 2 a few days from the film's 25th anniversary on May 8. This version also includes a commentary from its Emmy Award-winning director. Apart from 4K UHD, the Blu-ray version will also be available.

The film is about a comet, Wolf Beiderman, approaching the earth which has the potential to end human life. The story revolves around the efforts taken to divert the comet's trajectory from the earth. The film did well at the box office by grossing $350 million from an $80 million budget. The film had Steven Spielberg as the executive producer. Deep Impact features actors Robert Duvall, Téa Leoni, Elijah Wood, Vanessa Redgrave, Leelee Sobieski, Blair Underwood, Maximilian Schell, and Morgan Freeman.
