James Cameron to adapt The Last Train From Hiroshima: The Survivors Look Back

James Cameron is currently basking in glory following the massive success of his recent outing Avatar: The Way of Water, which is creating records at the box office. Meanwhile, the latest reports suggest that he is still considering adapting The Last Train From Hiroshima: The Survivors Look Back, a book by Charles R Pellegrino.

In 2010, the veteran filmmaker expressed his interest in adapting the story for the big screen. The book offers an anecdote of survivors of the bombings of Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.

And it was also said that Cameron had interviewed Tsutomu Yamaguchi, the only known survivor who was present during both bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. However, Yamaguchi passed away a few years later. And there was no development in the production. Meanwhile, recently, at LA Times, Cameron revealed that he wishes to spend time and work on Hiroshima film before proceeding with the production of Avatar 4. He also observed its timeliness due to the recent war in Ukraine and the resurgence of nationalism.

“We live in a more precarious world than we thought we did. I think the Hiroshima film would be as timely as ever, if not more so. It reminds people what these weapons really do when they’re used against human targets," Cameron said.
