Paradise Lost set to be a Game of Thrones-type story

The series, set in the Wonder Woman universe, will take place before the birth of Diana(Gal Gadot)

The new co-heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, unveiled a new series in the works from the studio for HBO Max. The project is titled Paradise Lost. When describing the series, Peter Safran called the series a "Game of Thrones-type story."

Described as Game of Thrones meets Wonder WomanParadise Lost is a series that explores the origins of Themyscira, the home of the Amazons and the birthplace of Wonder Woman. In the DC Extended Universe, the location of the island was said to be somewhere in the eastern Mediterranean near Turkey. 

According to the DC heads, the drama series explores the political intrigue of society and the island of all women. As well as the darkness and drama that goes into creating such a society. And Gunn added that the origin story would seek to answer questions about the home of the Amazons, saying, "How did this society of women come about? What does it mean? What are their politics like? What are their rules? Who's in charge? What are all the games that they play with each other to get to the top?"

The series will take place before the birth of Diana, who goes on to become Wonder Woman.
